Mookaite Cabochon

This cute freeform "windy teardrop"-cut Mookaite cabochon was a class room demo that went bad. Not bad in the way the cab turned out, though. The back of this slab did not have the little yellow "flame" and my goal was to show my students how a pleasing pattern in the rock could go away while it was being cut... but it didn't! The straight line at the lower right of the yellow area is a reflection.

37mm x 25mm x 5mm.   Weight: 35.45 carats.

Every one of my cabochons is custom cut to take the best advantage of the particular slab from which it is fashioned. Colors may vary somewhat from what is pictured due to differences in computer monitors.
