This rock was gathered just a few miles from home. It's known locally, along with other rock found in the spillings of coal mines, as "Brookwood Stone." This one is less flashy than some others we've gathered (there is an almost-sealed fracture at center left and a vug on the right edge), but for someone looking for a good example of river rock, it's a beauty. Dimensions: Round girdle; 31mm x 23mm x 7.5mm. Weight: 39.85 carats. |
