Stone Canyon Jasper

This is a nice specimen of Stone Canyon Jasper. When I finished it, I noticed what I thought was a scratch in the photo (I didn't notice it earlier). I went with the "scratch" theory and ground it down some more. But the "scratch" didn't go away! It looks as though it's actually a hairline fracture in the stone, very stable, and hardly noticeable except in the brightest light and under close observation (the photographer's light exaggerrates such details). So now it's 5mm thick instead of 6mm thick...

34mm x 25mm x 5mm; cab has a flat girdle.   Weight: 32.10 carats.

Every one of my cabochons is custom cut to take the best advantage of the particular slab from which it is fashioned. Colors may vary somewhat from what is pictured due to differences in computer monitors.
